April Calendar using Cricut Easter and Cricut Designer Calendar

It’s Good Friday and I hope your Easter weekend will be filled with Family and Friends. If you have been following my blog for the past couple of months, you know I do a calendar as my first post of each month. This month I wanted to show that when you detail you die cuts it makes the world of difference.

Photobucket

I used chalk inks, glimmer mist, fine tip markers, and a couple of felt butterflies. I am a firm believer of a heavy hand in inking—I love the highs and lows you get. I layered two colors of green for the grass and placed the rabbit behind and used a brand for the rabbit’s eye. I cut the Easter egg with two colors. For the yellow layer I also used yellow glimmer mist to give it a little shimmer!

Come back next week to see the projects I made with and Asian Flair—since I am overseas I thought this was a great opportunity to showcase Cricut Pagoda and the Asian Cuttlebug Bundle.

Hope you have a Happy Easter!

Bryan,

Thanks for sharing your creations! It's so refreshing to see scrapbooking and cardmaking from a male point of view! I like the sanding idea too, gives it such a unique look. I, too, haven't paid much attention to the songbird cartridge, but after your cards and tips, I'm thinking this is one I might need to add to my collection! Thanks for your hard work, the cards are fantastic!

A Big Thank You....using Cricut Songbird and a Gypsy cut file

Wow! This week is going to be crazy--as I am leaving on a business trip to Asia on Aprils Fools Day! Before the worry of the week distracts me--I wanted to send a BIG THANK YOU to all of you who left comments this weekend on Everyday Cricut and here on my blog! The response was overwhelming and more than I ever thought! I have read every comment (over 700 in all) and have taken notes of some requests for more VIDEOS!!! I hear ya and promise that in the coming weeks I will address this request!

So here is your thank you!

Photobucket
I used the same top note card I posted a cut file for on Saturday! This time it is much more casual!
I used Core’dinations card stock for the solid aqua blue and My Mind’s Eye pattern paper (a multi color stripe and an orange polka dot). I stamped THANKS using this month’s exclusive set of stamps from Close to My Heart (so glad they showed up on Friday!) and a button with Jillibean Soup wooly twine in chocolate!
Again Thanks a Million for the words of support and encouragement! I am so excited to be sharing with all of you! Come back on Wednesday to see haul video from Two Peas in a Bucket!

See you Wednesday!

There will be two lucky winners. One will receive the Cricut Songbird cartridge featured in all of my projects today and another will win the K&Company: Amy Butler patterned paper pad.

I used Cord'inations WhiteOut and embossed with the Cuddle bug Divine Swirls and sanded it down. Only three gems to add a little bling but not make it to in your face.
size is A7

Photobucket
I embossed a cut of metallic paper for the main cut. I used another Fiskers edge punch, the velvet ribbon again, and heat embossing to complete this 5*5 card.

I used a SU embossing folder and Cord'inations WhiteOut--again with the sanding. Remember I am a guy and we all like our tools and I consider a Tim Holtz Sanding block a tool! Embossed the flower pot and used pattern paper for the shadow. Size is A7

Here are a few examples to show a guy can use pink paper as well! LOL!

Photobucket
I love the flat bow which I made in a two step process (1 make the loops, 2 wrap a pc around the center of the loops). Cut the birdcage and top notes and added rows of bling to the cage base. Size is A2

This card base is also from Cricut Songbird. I took a top note shape--sized to be A2 and copied it on my gypsy. I lined them up welded and POOF! a fancy card base was born. I also sized a top note for the front. I debossed the card base so the inside had a lot of WOW as well. Sanded again. Embossed again. Inked the edges of a white top note for the inside and heat embossed the sentiment. Here is the cut file for this card--it is in googledocs and can be easily downloaded!

I wanted something simple yet special. I added bling to the ribbon and some glimmer mist to the dark grey birdbath cut. Used the cuddle bug again and think it came out great. Do not be afraid to alter your ribbon with bling, ink, sanding, or washing.

Remembre to check out the sister post on Everyday Cricut and leave comments for you chance to win! While you are there be sure to enter to win the expression they are giving away--you can also click HERE.

Joy and Melanie are amazing people and I am so lucky to have met them as well as been given this wonderful opportunity to share with everyone!

OK--so to keep with my MWF post--here is my take on Easetr baskets this year--I used the topnote cuts from Songbird and made tags for the gift bags and made some sour cream containers in place of Easter Eggs--these are much easier to ship than a real basket!

SImple layout pre cricut

Well--I know we all have those projects we did before we had the Cricut--here is one of my all time favs. I love the color story, simply grey and purple. The pictures are from a co-workers 50th Birthday we celebrated in NYC when we were on business. The only color picture is of the Birthday Guy to really bring the eye to the reason for the celebration. The picture of the cake is to die for--it was beautiful and it sure tasted great!

Thanks so much for stopping in today! Don't forget to check out the Ustream over at Everyday Cricut on Thursday night! If you took part in the previous ones you know it is bound to be good as well as some great giveaways!!

What a cute face....using Cricut Easter 2010

Happy Monday--after a crazy weekend of snow in Texas and an insane amount of crafting, I am gearing up for a very busy week with lots of excitement in store!
Today I have a layout--that's what I said--a Layout!!!!!
The composition is pretty simple but it is the cute animal faces that really make this one special--

I used Kraft paper for the base and two sheets of My Mind's Eye paper (left over from Easter cards from last week) The faces are right off the Cricut Easter Cartridge--I had to cut the lamb and bunny a couple of times to get my layers the colors I wanted but it was worth the extra cuts and a but of wasted paper.
Here is the bunny

Here is the lamb

Here is the duck

I hate google eyes but these I simply could not pass up--they have EYE LASHES!!! I got them at Joann's if anyone wanted to pick them up.
I also used a little felt rick rack and some shaped brads to accent the photo and journal blocks. The rick rack is only attached with the brad so you can place the picture with out having to rip tape or chance the ripping of the paper.

Well I hope you all liked this one---
By the way--be sure to be a part of the Everyday Cricut Ustream event Joy and Melanie are putting on Thursday night. You can click on the blinkie for a quick trasnfer over to their blog! Make sure to check it out!
