It's Saturday--the best day of the week! So today I want to show two page kits from LaserCut Designs. I saw these at the Great American Scrapbook Convention and had to have them!
This first one was my favorite friend of the show.
The layout reminds me of the Incredibles! I have to say my nephew will love to see his pictures on these pages. In the kit came all the paper, stickers and ribbon. Of course I had to ink the edges--this time I used two colors: red and blue. The effect is pretty cool! This second kit was a lot of fun--I had to have it so I would remember that when you use a full die cut sheet, like the starts here, you can cut it apart and use it in a number of projects--since these tend to be a bit expensive I like making my dollar go far!
These kits were both under $10 and I think they were worth the money--they were quick, easy, and look great when finished. The only thing I had to do was cut a few pieces down from larger sheets included in the kits--super easy!
Now on the my travel tips!
Tip 1: Do not pack more than you can carry
Tip 2: Do not buy more than you can pack
One of these smaller rolling cases works well and limits the amount of stuff you can take. I know we all like to have our whole scrap stash with us but your only going to be gone a short time--pack what you will need and than add 6 things to the case--that is all you need. If you use everything you take--you my friend will be a master scrapper with an amazing ability to plan ahead!
Tip 3: Protect the paper at all costs! These plastic scrap storage containers are great and you can fit two stacked on top of each other in a normal sized suitcase! Trust me I know! I also like these because if you are working on a book or collection of cards--you can keep all your supplies, embellishments, scraps, etc together. You can also use the top as a work space--large flat and big enough to easy work on a 12X12 page!
Tip 4 Separate but equal.
If you are taking multiple projects these great pocket folders are great. Not only are they great for keeping all your bits and bobs together, but they keep you finished work nice, clean, and protected for the entire trip!
Tip 5 Share your passion.
Where ever your travels take you make sure to look up, go to, and shop at the Local Scrapbook Stores. Michael's and Joann's are great but the LSS are amazing place (big or small) and have owners that have a passion for this hobby--let's support them. I also know from my more than fair share of travels that they love it when out of towners come in! I recommend using GOOGLE and just time in scrapbook stores near (insert destination here). You never know what treasure you may uncover!
Once you leave a comment here, head on over to Everyday Cricut and check out the fun Americana shaped cards I made for my Saturday over there--they are super easy and super quick!
Bryan - These are great tips for travel! They also make me laugh, because I always take way more than I will be able to use.
ReplyDeleteLove the layouts, superhero is my fav.! TFS!
ReplyDeleteLove the LO. My 5yr old is a BIG superhero fan....was just at the other site - they were all really nice - LOVED em... perfect traveling tips.. LOL
ReplyDeleteMust check out shops while traveling! You're right, you do need to check out locations before you go. Not easy to 'just happen' to find a craft shop while on vacation.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bryan!
Thanks for the travel tips. I love both of these layouts but especially the red bling on Superhero.
ReplyDeleteLove the layouts! Thanks for sharing the tips. I need to get one of those plastic scrap storage boxes. It would be much easier than carrying everything!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the travel tips. I love to check out the LSS when I travel. Never can tell when you're going to find something new you've never seen before!

ReplyDeleteAwesome layouts! Love the bling on these. Already checked out Everyday Cricut. Awesome cards! Thanks so much for the travel tips. Although I don't travel often, these are great to know. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat tips for traveling! I've used those plastic storage containers for years. They come in quite handy when going to crops...layer papers, add die cuts and add embellies...just glue upon arrival! I keep my glue separate just in case of leakage!
ReplyDeleteLove the layouts! Thanks for the travel tips. I always try to stop at local scrap shops.
ReplyDeleteWow What great LO's! Love the Superhero's page also, Love the red glitter! I love to stop by the LSS when ever we go anywhere! We traveled across country and each state we went to I had to find a LSS plus the regular one's LOL! Got some one-of-a-kind things at some. Great travel tips also, if we are going for any length of stay we have a travel trailer that we take so I can pack up quite a bit to take with me, but I've learned to edit because I'll always find more stuff to bring home. LOL TFS what a great week it's been!

ReplyDeleteBryan,
ReplyDeleteGreat job with the kits!!! :) (these last two kits were just for a 2 page layout?) I agree; your inking the edges makes a big difference! I love all the extra touches.

Great L/O's. Your tips are perfect for trveling. I especially like the idea of taking those plastic square boxes. Now, why didn't I think of that? If you are gone for four days aren't you supposed to take at least 8 - 10 outfits and five pair of shoes? Gotta go prepared!
ReplyDeleteLOVE all of your tips, good ones! I don't travel as much as you so I don't take my stuff very often!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing
Susan
Great tips! I know I always want to take everything, but even when I don't, I have everything I really need. If not I just save that page or card for when I get home.

I will be going out of town this week-end and you can bet I will pick up a kit before leaving. As always, thanks for your great ideas.
ReplyDeleteThese are great layouts! And, your travel ideas are wonderful. I always worry about my papers getting crinkled or ripped, or embellishments lost, why didn't I think of this one! First time visiting your blog, and it won't be my last! Love your work! Blessings, Donna
ReplyDeleteLove the layouts. I think my nephew would like his pics on the superhero one too.
ReplyDeleteGreat tips, keeping this tucked away for future travel. thanks Julie

Man! When I go to a crop, I think I have to take everything with me. I lug and lug stuff. I really need to be more organized & have my projects planned ahead of time so everything is like in a kit form & just put things together at the crop. I never seem to do that & have to take my Cricut supplies, stamping supplies, embellishments. It gets to be TOO MUCH. So I stay home. Then I miss the fun of being with other croppers. I love to see what they are doing, how they are organized, & what they bring. I wish I had a list of how to prepare and pack for a crop.

Great tips...now if I had somewhere to go! Really like the heros layout...I can see why you found it a great buy!

ReplyDeleteGreat tips on packing and I love your layouts.
ReplyDeleteI just went through this over this past weekend - headed out to mommas with ALL OF IT - never considering having to carry in all of it and carry out all of it in 100+ degree heat - twice - ugh!! gotta get that under control on the next kitty sitting adventure!!
ReplyDeleteSuch cute kits. Love the first one. Thanks for the tips.
ReplyDeleteGreat tips. I have a scrapping/stamping/cardmaking friend that I travel with and she has taught me to read the phone book. Yes, that's right, she pulls out the phone book and starts reading. She looks under anything that is craft and art related and believe me she finds some great places that way!
ReplyDeleteBryan,
ReplyDeleteJust discovered your wonderful blog, you are SO talented!!! I love your layouts, the ALL STAR one is soooooo awesome for summer baseball pics!
Keep up the great work, I have you bookmarked in my FAVS!
