Elegant Sympathy Card using Pink By Design Background Stamps
Happy Thursday everyone--sorry I missed you yesterday. I am on, yet another, business trip and find myself back in NYC this week after a couple of days in Charlotte. So sometime my best laid plans are well--just laid and not checked on my done list!
Today's card may look familiar cause I did one similar to this about 8 months ago using just DCVW paper. This time I used a background stamp with embossing to really take the card to the next level!
The background stamp is Roses by Pink by Design. This is stamp (so do all of the ones I own) was perfect right off the bat. I used versa mark ink and fine detail powder. Hint: heat until it becomes very shiny--if you heat until dull it will stay that way--when you go all the way to shin you get an AMAZING finish.
Here is a detail of the stamp--I love all the minor details that you get--the shadow lines the clean overlaps. And the fact that this (as all of the PBD background stamps) is a tiled stamp--meaning you can line them up perfectly and get a true all over stamped background page--working on a video to show you all how this works.
So y'all know that my cuttlebug is one of my all time fav tools in my scrap room and this folder from SU is awesome--you can use the whole thing or cut out the big flower like I did here. By taking a very sharp pair of scissors (the smaller the better) and going around the embossed pattern you get this amazing big embellishment. I took some chalk in and added some to the edges and over the embossed area to give it some depth.
This lovely sentiment is from the PBD Sympathy set. It is perfect for all those hard to make and hard to send cards that mean so much in such a hard time. I stamped it on pattern paper (the same used for the flower) after I punched this banner out with my Fiskers punch. I added two mocha pearls from CTMH to give it an anchor.
Anytime I have to send a card like this, I make it! For some reason the fact that I take the time to do this very small but personal thing--means so much to the one the card is sent to.
Make it a great one and I will be back in Dallas tonight and will have a very cool item to share with all of you scrappers, want to bes, wish ya were's, and the like that will give you ammo in your crafting gun when you need it the most!
