World's Greatest Father Layout using Cricut Holiday Cakes & Mother's Day

Yeah it's Friday and it's a three day weekend! I am so excited to have a long weekend what to do with that extra day! Trust me when I say I have plenty to do--laundry, cleaning, some crafting, catch up on emails...............

Today I have another layout, this one is a two page. I used Cricut Holiday Cakes for the banners and the frame came from the Mother's Day seasonal cartridge--yes you can use it for other things besides Mother's Day! I have used some of the same papers from a couple cards from this past week--these all came from Michael's.

I used a triple mat look with a solid white top layer.

I think this helps pop the frame and banners. When I attached the frame to the paper I left one long side open so a picture could be inserted with out to much trouble. I used the same embossing technique I used earlier this week with the wood grain stamp and the Tim Holtz Distressed Embossing Powder.

(this picture really shows the nice contrast this technique provides!)

There are three photo mats which will hold up to a 3x5 photo which is the size of the smaller of the two mats. I used a number of different papers on this page and the diamond embossing plate makes the cut again!

I used some brads from Hobby Lobby that look like screw heads and used a small circle punch to make 'washers'. I really like how this turned out and I really like that you have multiple ways you can use the second page--if you flip it 90 degrees you can use vertical photos and you get similar results.

If the preview on Cricut.com tells me anything--it says there may be a cart coming with tools which would also be perfect for this paper. You could use it to make a Handy Manny page for a little boy. How about to capture them memories of a home improvement project or building a tree/play house!

Well that is all I have for today. Before the week is over, I want to thank all the new followers that have signed on and all of you that keep coming back! I am so lucky to have such wonderful crafting friends!

I will have post this weekend that will be focused on the holiday so make sure you check it out. If your traveling--please be safe on your journeys. While we remember those who gave their lives for our country, let us not forget the men and women who are serving now! We live in such a great nation--we are not perfect but we are blessed to live in this great nation!

Have a great weekend!

FIt to be Tied using Cricut Designers Calendar

Thursday is one day closer to the three day weekend! I like that!
So I found a few minutes to pull this single page layout together--the tie and shirt collar are from Designers Calendar.
Photobucket
I cut it in white and then cut a bit of pattern paper for the tie.
Photobucket
I made some very simple photo mats from the scraps of paper used in the cards earlier this week. I love it when you can use almost the whole sheet of paper!
Photobucket
To finish it off I had a strip of paper with ties and high gloss UV printing that I put along the bottom of the paper--this came from the DCVW man stack as well. Waist not want not!!!
Photobucket
This could be a great layout to showcase pictures taken of the kids with dad on Father's Day before heading off to church or the next time everyone has to get all dressed up!
Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Two Father's Day Card using Cricut Preserves, Don Juan, and Heritage

Hello--I think Wednesday is my day--It's my glass is half full or half empty day--just depends on how the week has been going! I have two cards to share with you all. IF you follow my blog you know I love a top note and if they layer well even better-- so here are two cards that hold true to this style. I love it because it is super simple and pretty quick and they deliver a big bang to the person getting the card!

First up is a card for PAPA--even grandpas love fathers day cards from the grandkids.
Photobucket
I used the man stack form DCVW here. This is a new 'top note' shape for me and it comes from Cricut Preserves and I think I am in love with it--a great photo mat, card layers, or journal block!
Photobucket
I layered the word art (from Heritage) on top of the top note on my gypsy and was able to get a cut away look--simple yet strong! Of course it would not be a ScrapGuy creation if pop dots were not involved--i love the extra pop they add.
Photobucket
Sadly both my grandpa's have passed, but this fathers day I will be grateful for the time I was able to have with them and reflect on how they helped shape who I am today!

The second card today (to make up for taking Monday off) was fun and easy--
Photobucket
This top note is also from Preserves but you can find a very similar one on Songbird (font is Don Juan)! I inked the edges of the base card and just started to layer using a half inch reduction for each layer.
Photobucket
Here is a detail of the layers. The bottom layer is a printed paper, then you have a silver layer that was sent through the cuttlebug with the diamond plate folder, on top of that I used a black card stock and stamped with VersaMark ink wood grain and used Tim Holtz Distressed Embossing powder which I think turned out great--I may have to do this agian!
Photobucket
(you may have to move your screen to see the embossing!)
To finish it off I added a strip of printed paper that has a wrench head on it--the wrenches are printed in glossy UV and I think tie the handy man built Ford tough look together!
Photobucket

Thanks for stopping in and checking out these two cards. I have a layout for Friday and if by chance I get a few extra minutes--I may have a quick and easy layout to share using some scraps and a simple Cricut cut!
Have a great day-
