Another challange answered using Cricut Lite Dude Cartridge Part 1

Guess it is time to answer another followers challenge--this time it is from Lisa:

Hey Bryan!, I wonder what you do for a living flying all over the world all the time?...

I have 3 boys and would love to see you use the Cricut Lite Dude cartridge - we wake board, motorcycle, ski, bike, surf (or try to :~) - any of these activities would be great!

Since I just got this cartridge a couple of weeks ago I thought I would go ahead and knock this one out.  The artwork on this cartridge is really cool and pretty easy to layer.  As I was coming up with this double page layout I thought I would break it into two parts with a couple of short videos.

To day I am going to show you how I work out my layouts.  I first start with a sketch.

Sketching my layout allows me the opportunity to work out size (to some degree), color, placement, and where I am going to put my photos.
Once the sketch is done I head to my gypsy to make it come to life.  This video shows you some of the tricks I use in building my layouts.

Come back on Thursday to see the cuts and the finished layout.
make it a great one-

  1. I also sketch out my layouts and cards, but I do it with my ds. That way I can figure out all the sizes and shapes first, then work in the colors. Rarely waste any of that precious paper since I started doing that. Couldn't see the video this morning as my computer kept spooling during it, but will try to check it out later. Thanks!

  3. Glad to see you using the Gypsy layers I haven't quite gotten the nerve to work with them yet. Now I can see that maybe it's not as confusing as i thought. Can't wait to see the rest.

  6. Good video can't wait till tomorrow to see it all come together. Did your background blue get darker? or is it my puter I can hardly read the black lettering on top of the dark blue.

  7. "DUDE" is my fav cartridge of all the lite ones because it reminds me so much of my son who refers to us as "dude" all the time. I sent my friend on a Wal-mart run when she went to the US last weekend but she was unable to find it for me :( Hopefully soon! Can't wait to see the finished layout.

  11. Bryan,

Thank you so much for posting a detailed video!!! :) I always find them to be so helpful!

Do you ALWAYS sketch your layouts first? I guess I even do that for a lot of my cards, too (even if it's just in my mind).
